upriver at the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries Boat

St. John's Churchyard (Washington Street). This Episcopal
Church was built in 1850 and is of the Gothic Revival Style. The
churchyard will house a portion of the British forces.

Caleb Stone House (Cameron Street). Built by Alexander McRae in
1792. The unofficial "Mayor's House" (it has been occupied by
three Columbia Mayors)

Green House (Saint James Street/ Route 6). This tavern was
visited by Lafayette on his 1824 tour of Virginia.

Payne House (Saint James Street/ Route 6)was built as a Ferry House
circa 1783. Became part of the tobacco warehouse complex established in
1784 by David Ross, founder of Columbia. One of Virginia's first tobacco
inspection stations, and the first above the Falls of the James.

Columbia Town Hall. Originally a store located near the canal, the
building was moved to its present location on Washington Street around
1870.

Panoramic View of Main British Camp (upper tier) This cleared area
between Saint James and Cameron Streets has several level terraces that
are appropriate for campsites. Landmarks in view include Memorial Baptist
Church (far left) and the Payne House (far right).

Panoramic View of Main British Camp (lower tier). The Payne House
can be seen just to the right of center. The rise where these camps lie is
where Simcoe displayed the 71st Highland Regiment, in hopes of convincing
Steuben that the Main Army (under Cornwallis) was present
