HISTORY OF THE STRUCTURE

Many people have commented on the amount of historical work that we done so far. This research has been done hand in hand with the demolition and stabilization phase. It is very important for us to know about those who resided at 622 Harrison Street in the past, as it gives us clues about what rims, floor treatments, paints, and other details may have been used. Now that we have a better idea of who lived in the house, and how it was used, we are in a much better position to move ahead with the exciting, constructive phase of the project. Also, if we had not researched the ownership of the house, we would not have been able to locate insurance maps which outlined various outbuildings on the property, and even a brick addition on the left side of the house, that may have been used as a kitchen. After we were able to locate a few individuals who once lived in the house, we now have anecdotal evidence of a fireplace on the exterior of the chimney, which would confirm our theory about the kitchen.
