found in

Revolution.
The chamber has not been opened yet, but it appears to be for a
round ball of a smaller calibre (a squirrel rifle, perhaps). Click on the photo for an actual sized
image.

Originally thought to be a snuff box. We now think that this is
a silver makeup box. Note the lower photograph. The left side is the compartment,
which contains a red substance. The right side contains glass, and a possible
bit of mirroring (click on the photo for an enlarged image). Note double
fleur-de-lis pattern on lid on upper photo, right side. Box measures 1.5"
diameter x 3/8" thick. Found underneath the living room floor, laying on top of the hard-packed
soil.

Right: Similar example of pattern from Smith Family Collection.

in about 1810.
